Western News is the award-winning weekly newspaper and electronic news service of the University of Western Ontario. Created in 1972, Western News provides timely news, information and a forum for discussion of postsecondary issues in the campus and broader community.

Newspaper

Western News publishes a tabloid-format newspaper 34 times during the academic year and distributes 10,000 copies a week through 40 on-campus news boxes. Distribution also includes city libraries, education centres, hospitals, research facilities, city hall, external media and selected individuals including area political representatives.

Wired

Various electronic news services provide rapid distribution of news and information and offers access to a growing database of published articles. These services include:

  • The Daily News Service (DNS) offers timely updates on events of interest to the campus and broader community. Your homepage to www.uwo.ca.
  • RSS– get Western News stories delivered automatically to your desktop.
  • Podcasts– download an oral summary of campus news for review at your concenience.
  • Archived Western News and DNS articles dating from 1998 are available through the Western News pull-down menu at www.uwo.ca.
