To write a classified ad

Readers are attracted to direct, descriptive language that outlines price, size and other specifics of the product or service.

If you have an apartment for rent, outline the number of bedrooms. Are utilities included? Is it a sublet, near a bus stop, across from a park, facing southwest or steps from Western? Put yourself in the shoes of a consumer.

Western News employs bold type for visual impact at the beginning of each classified so place key words at the beginning of your message.

If you would like assistance, our advertising staff will help you create an effective ad.

Details

Rates: $20 for 35 words, non-University; $15, University students or employees. Additional words charged at the rate of 50 cents each. No refunds.

Deadline: Thursday noon, one week before publication.

Payment: Please provide payment before publication. No refunds.
