Western responds to student Gazette apology

Western welcomes the decision by The Gazette to publicly apologize for the objectionable articles printed in this year’s Frosh Edition, published last week.
As the university indicated previously, the editorial content of that edition was unacceptable and did not reflect the values of Western in terms of promoting a safe and respectful community.
Western appreciates the newspaper taking responsibility for the edition. From their apology, the student editors appear to have learned they showed a lack of proper judgment in their decision to publish these articles.
The newspaper is owned and operated by Western’s University Student Council. With that in mind, the university appreciates the role that student leadership played in resolving this matter.
