Engineering to unveil concrete toboggan

The Western Engineering Toboggan Team will unveil its entry for the 2013 Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8 in the Claudette MacKay-Lassonde Pavilion (CMLP) Atrium. Weather permitting, the team will perform a couple test runs on University College (UC) Hill starting at approximately 4:45 p.m.
As per competition rules, the toboggan must not weigh more than 300 pounds (136.1 kg). The running surface must be made of only concrete and every toboggan must be designed with a roll bar/cage, steering and braking system.
The 2013 Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race is scheduled from Jan. 23-27 at the University of British Columbia.
Western University will host the 2014 race in London at Boler Mountain. Representatives from Western’s organizing committee will be in attendance Jan. 8 to answer questions about next year’s event.
