Western officials are attempting to gather more information regarding the well-being of Dr. Tarek Loubani, an Emergency Medicine professor at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, following his recent detainment in Cairo, Egypt.

Loubani has a history of participating in voluntary, humanitarian medical treatment and training abroad, which is in keeping with Schulich’s commitment to providing medical outreach with a view to improve medical care around the world.

Western continues to monitor the situation through various sources and hopes there will be a safe and positive resolution to the situation as soon as possible.
