The only sensible thing to say about what the state will be in 40 years of a field of knowledge so new as digital humanities is that the humanities will be digital, that is:
def digital_humanities_in_forty_years():
a = digital(2012)
b = humanities(2012)
for time in range(2012, 2053):
a,b = digital_humanities (a, b, time)
print digital_humanities_in_forty_years()
“100% digital, 100% humanities”
