Johnson wins 3M National Teaching Fellowship

Western University professor Marjorie Johnson has been awarded the highest teaching honour in Canada – a 3M National Teaching Fellowship. Teaching in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Johnson is one of 10 fellowship recipients this year.

Johnson’s colleagues and students have praised her teaching, noting her passion, dedication and compassion. Seeing teaching as a privilege, Johnson is well known for using props such as footballs and bed sheets in the classroom, doing her best to positively influence student learning and future teaching methods.

In 1986, the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher education and 3M Canada created the fellowship to honour exceptional contributions to teaching and leadership at Canadian universities. Fellowship recipients exemplify the highest ideals of teaching and scholarship excellence in the country.
