Western will be hosting a Campus Clean Up Day on Thursday, April 4. The event will be open to all students, staff and faculty at Western, and event organizers say it will be a great way to show appreciation for the university’s beautiful campus.
“The clean-up represents a fun, healthy and easy way for members of the Western community to get involved on campus,” said Beverley Ayeni, Western’s energy and environment manager. “If everyone spent just 30 minutes picking up waste, the aesthetic and environmental effects would be profound.”
On the day, participants can choose from three start times – 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Each shift starts at a central spot, Concrete Beach on a sunny day or the Mustang Lounge on a rainy one.
After each group returns from their clean-up, they will receive a free BBQ lunch.
Those interested in participating can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, indicating which time slot works best for them. Everyone is encouraged to get involved and help make the university a more beautiful place.
Western has been recognized with top honours as Most Beautiful Campus in the Parks and Grounds category of the National Communities in Bloom competition, a nation-wide beautification program that judges cities, towns, villages, parks and grounds. In fact, Western took the top prize over Banff National Park, one of the most visited national parks in the world.
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
