Subscribing to podcasts

Podcasts are a specialized form of RSS feed and links to them do not usually display well on your monitor. Instead, the link to a podcast should be copied and pasted into a program designed to handle podcasts, such as iTunes or Juice (formerly iPodder).

Podcasts

Podcasting takes its name from the idea of being able to "broadcast" a program to an iPod or other portable music player. With a microphone and a computer (and a bit of free software), you can record a sound file, place it on a web server, and disseminate it with an RSS feed. To subscribe to these feeds, use a program such as iTunes or Juice (formerly iPodder), which will in turn download new "programs" to your music player whenever they are available.

Do you know of any podcasts being put together by students, faculty, staff or alumni? Please, let us know!

Interested in putting together one of your own? We'd love to hear from you! Our resources page features a podcasting section that can help you get started - you will need a computer, a microphone, some free software and some space on a web server - we'll try to help provide the audience!
