Online absence reporting tools now in effect
Starting in October, Western will begin tracking absence due to flu-like illness using new online tools developed by the Registrar's Office (for students) and by Human Resources (for faculty and staff members). These new tools have been developed to aid the University in monitoring flu-like illness and absences on campus as part of its broader preparations to manage a potential H1N1 pandemic situation.
The online absence tools can be used by individuals who stay home from class and/or work due to flu-like illness. Health authorities indicate the symptoms of the flu include a fever plus at least one of the following: cough, sore throat, shortness of breath.
Students can access their online absence reporting tool by logging on to the Student Center (absence notification is the red link found under Personal Information). For more information on the student reporting tool, see the October 5th Memo to Students from the Registrar's Office.
Faculty and staff members can access their online absence reporting tool by logging on to myHR, accessible from the Human Resources web site at http://www.uwo.ca/humanresources/
