Western students among nominees in CHRW album contest

Several Western students are in the running to have their music declared album of the year by University of Western Ontario radio station CHRW.
Western English Masters student Basia Bulat
Basia Bulat, a Western English grad working on her Masters degree and Don Wright Faculty of Music student Sonja Gustafson are among the ten nominees for the honours.  
Mike Contasti-Isaac of nominee The English Premiership, a fourth-year Social Sciences student and Ian Doig-Phaneuf of nominee The Riderless, a second-year Arts student are also in the running for the station's award.  
All nominees are vying for the top prize of $500 cash and a live in-studio performance on the radio station's airwaves.  
The list is comprised of veterans and newcomers to the London music scene featuring albums that have garnered attention nationally, internationally and locally.
The ten nominees were chosen by a jury of London broadcasters, journalists and music-industry figures. Jury members will deliberate further to narrow their choices to three with the winner being announced Monday, December 10 between 3:30-6 p.m. on CHRW radio program Clang Boom Steam, hosted by station Program Director Michael Brown.    
Owned and operated by Western's University Students' Council, 94.9 CHRW is a campus / community radio station. Recent accolades include recipient of Canadian Campus Station of the Year in 1995 and 2001. In 2006 the station was honoured with a Jack Richardson Music Award as Contributor of the Year.
