Don Wright Faculty of Music student Mike Tithecott will soon be humming a different tune after being victorious in the University Students' Council (USC) presidential election.

Tithecott edged out Matthjis van Gaalen by just under 300 votes. Also running were Jeff Rutledge, Marshall Goldfarb, Matt Hyland and Ray Park.

The University Community Centre (UCC) referendum surrounding proposed renovations also passed by a vote of 4,361 to 3,266. The USC leases approximately 90,000 square feet of space within the UCC from Western, and manages it on behalf of undergraduate students.

Beginning on 2010/2011, the USC will begin collecting $25 annually from each student, with the first adjustment permitted in the 2012/2013 academic year. Check out more election results.
