Bob Barney and Kevin Wamsley

Bob Barney, founding Director of Western's International Centre for Olympic Studies (ICOS), left, and Kevin Wamsley, the Centre's current director, have had numerous golden moments with their many successes with this world-class research establishment.

The Centre, founded in 1989, is the first of its kind in the world. Its primary mission is to generate and disseminate academic scholarship focused specifically upon the socio-cultural study of the Modern Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement.

Both Barney and Wamsley are keyed up for the19th Olympic Winter Games that opened last week in Salt Lake City, Utah. They and other ICOS experts are in demand for media interviews on the Olympics.

Western receives calls from all over the world from people wanting to know about the Centre. ICOS experts are highly sought after by the media - recent television, radio and newspaper interviews with CBS and ABC news as well as the Washington Post, and CBC are a few examples.
