The Centre for Abrahamic Religions at Huron University College will be hosting the annual North American conference of the Society for Scriptural Reasoning from June 27-30.

This gathering will bring together scholars, students, clergy, and laypersons from the three Abrahamic faiths to read and study brief passages from the Tanakh, the Qur'an and the Christian Bible on the theme of Teaching and Learning.

Currently 55 teachers and students are registered to participate with significant representation from all three faith traditions. Scholars from across Canada and the Unites States, including Yale, Duke, Villanova, the University of Virginia, Fuller Theological Seminary, the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo, and The University of Western Ontario will be attending. This represents the largest gathering of its kind in North America.

Scriptural Reasoning is the practice of Jews, Muslims, and Christians meeting in small groups to study each other’s sacred texts. Participants read the scriptures through the eyes of their own faith, while being open to the interpretations of those of other faiths.
