Former professor earns lifetime achievement award

University of Western Ontario professor emeritus (History) Frederick Armstrong will be awarded the Lieutenant Governor's Ontario Heritage Award for Lifetime Achievement at a ceremony in Toronto Friday.
 
Armstrong, nominated by the City of London, has written over 200 publications and is Honorary President of the London and Middlesex Historical Society.
 
"Preserving our heritage enriches the quality of life for Ontarians and makes a valuable contribution to our communities," says the Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, who’ll present the awards to 19 Ontarians being honoured.
 
"These award recipients have made outstanding achievements to conserve Ontario's heritage and I'm pleased to recognize their accomplishments."
 
The annual Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Awards recognize volunteers and communities for outstanding contributions to the preservation, protection and promotion of Ontario’s heritage over a period of 25 years or more.
