Fantuz to attend Detroit Lions camp
Wednesday, May 3, 2006

Former Mustangs receiver Andy Fantuz will showcase his talents this weekend at a workout camp with the NFL's Detroit Lions.
Fantuz, who was passed over in last week's NFL draft, hasn't signed a deal with the Lions, but admits he could boost his chances of doing so with an impressive showing at the camp, which begins Friday and runs through Sunday.
The six-foot-four, 220-pound Fantuz is the most prolific receiver in Canadian university football history, holding CIS records for most catches (189), yards (4,123) and touchdowns (41). He captured the Hec Crighton Trophy last season as the top university player in Canada and participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl in California in January.
Financially, the NFL would be a bonus for Fantuz, since the average CFL salary is about $50,000 Cdn., compared to the minimum salary in the NFL of $275,000 U.S. ($304,000 Cdn.).
