One of Canada's foremost investigative journalists, Stevie Cameron, has been selected as this year's speaker for the annual Clissold Lecture in Journalism Thursday, November 25. Cameron, the author of On the Take, The Last Amigo and The Pickton File, will discuss the challenges and highlights of her multi-year investigation into serial killer Robert Pickton and the missing women of Vancouver. Her talk is titled: “Covering the Pickton Case: Horror, Heartbreak and the Assignment of a Lifetime.” The free event begins at 5 p.m. in University College, Room 224 (Conron Hall). Everyone is welcome to attend.
Cameron, who has had a long and distinguished career working at the Toronto Star, the Ottawa Citizen, the Globe and Mail and CBC-TV, was pleased to be selected for the 2010 Clissold Lecture. “Western’s journalism program is one of the best in North America so to be chosen for this lecture is such an honour. I couldn’t be more delighted,” says Cameron, whose most recent book is On the Farm: Robert William Pickton and the Tragic Story of Vancouver’s Missing Women.
