Latin Americans in Canada - Public lecture Oct. 29

Professor Alan Simmons, Senior Scholar in the Department of Sociology at York University and Adjunct Research Professor at the Centre for Research on Migration and Ethnic Relations at Western, will present a public lecture called "Why Immigrant Origins Matter: Latin Americans in Canada" on Thursday, October 29, 4 to 5 p.m., Room 5220 Social Sciene Centre.
 
His lecture is part of the colloquium series of Western's Collaborative Graduate Program in Migration and Ethnic Relations and Centre for Research on Migration and Ethnic Relations (MER). MER connects graduate students, faculty, policy makers, and community stakeholders to study questions of migration, ethnic relations, cultural diversity, and the integration of migrants in Canada and internationally, and promotes multidisciplinary perspectives. This colloquium, as well as all others in the MER series, is open to the Western and London community, and admission is free.
