Students at Western's Richard Ivey School of Business take to the streets July 10 for "Goodbye Graffiti" as part of the annual student-led volunteer project Community Action Day. This year, in partnership with Neighbourhood Watch London, students will scatter to various parts of the city identified by Neighbourhood Watch for a graffiti cleanup project.
“We’re excited to host a graffiti cleanup event in partnership with London’s Neighbourhood Watch. This event enables Ivey students to make a difference within the London community, which conveys the spirit of Ivey’s mission to develop leaders who contribute to society,” says MBA student Tamar Tepper, student representative, Ivey Connects.

A highlight in the student calendar, Community Action Day mobilizes Ivey students for a full day of volunteering. This event exposes students to the various types of volunteering opportunities in the London area and abroad for the remainder of the year. It also exposes students to a new environment that will give more empathy and understanding of a corporation's role in society to help them in their future roles as business leaders.

A key component of Ivey’s mission is to develop business leaders who contribute to the societies in which they operate. Students at Ivey are encouraged to participate in events which promote corporate social responsibility. This hands-on approach is at the core of the Ivey learning experience. The collaboration of students with non-profit organizations makes the day an invaluable experience.

In addition to Ivey Connects’ Community Action Day, students participate in Community Consulting Projects and other volunteer activities. More information about Ivey Connects is available at www.ivey.uwo.ca/iveyconnects.
