Indiafest draw for Indians and non-Indians alike

Western’s New President, Dr. Amit Chakma will be the Chief Guest at Indiafest ’09, the largest festival/event reaching Indians and South Asians held in southwestern Ontario.
This year’s Indiafest takes place outdoors at the Covent Garden Market in downtown London on Friday, July 24, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 25, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The festival provides Londoners and visitors from across southwestern Ontario with a unique opportunity to experience a glimpse into the traditions of Indian art, culture, cuisine, entertainment and history.
“Celebrating the seventh anniversary of Indiafest, we will kick off Indiafest ’09 on
Friday, July 24, with a free, live open-air concert featuring high energy entertainment
that is sure to appeal to both Indian and non-Indian audiences alike”, says Dr. Dev
Sainani, Executive Director of Indiafest, and V.P. & Co-Founder of Kala Manjari, the
organization which hosts Indiafest.
Indiafest ’09 includes stage entertainment that features easy to appreciate fashion
shows, bollywood dances, and traditional and modern music and dance items from
all the major regions of India. In addition, Indiafest will feature cooking and sari tying
demonstrations.
