Community Exercise and Nutrition Symposium

Top experts in nutrition and exercise come together at Western on Saturday, March 20 at the 5th Annual Community Exercise and Nutrition Symposium.  In fast-paced, half-hour long sessions designed to offer the latest in research and clinical expertise, those attending will learn new and effective ways to improve their bodies, their health and their outlook.
Topics include:
  • Important lessons from the world’s largest body transformation project
  • Why calorie counting is making you fat
  • Pregnancy/postpartum fitness
  • Staying fit in middle age
  • Exercise intensity or insanity: realities of sprint interval training
  • Ultrasound and vibration exercise
  • Losing weight vs. altering body composition
Registrants, if they choose, may also participate in a one-hour, active session including body composition and fitness testing, boot camp fitness, Wii Fit with Mustang players and strength and power training.
 
The symposium will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Western's Labatt Health Sciences Building.
 
Peter Lemon, Director of Western's Exercise Nutrition Research Laboratory, is also one of the presenters on the topic of “Losing weight vs. altering body composition.” He says anyone looking to learn more about fitness and health will find lots of interesting information in the day-long program.
 
“From weight loss to strength training, we know that people need good information to take the right action and achieve maximum benefits,” says Lemon. “People who come will not only hear great speakers and learn new information, but they will also be able to get answers to their own questions from some top fitness and wellness experts.

Registration is $59 for adults, $69 at the door.  Students/Seniors (60+) are $20,
$25 at the door.
 
All proceeds support the Mustang Women’s Softball Program.
