Wife of Maher Arar visits Western Law - Apr. 2

Monia Mazigh will speak about her new book, Hope and Despair: My Struggle to Free My Husband, Maher Arar, as part of Western Law’s Distinguished Speakers Series. The book focuses on the challenges Mazigh went through when her husband was deported to Syria in 2002, where he was tortured and held without charge for more than a year. Scheduled for Thursday, April 2 at 12:00 p.m., the lecture will be held in the Moot Court Room, Faculty of Law. For more information, please contact Susanna Eayrs at seayrs@uwo.ca
 

100 Hours of Astronomy - Apr. 2-5

Galileo first gazed into the great star ocean with a telescope 400 years ago and to celebrate the quadricentennial anniversary, Western is hosting “100 Hours of Astronomy.”Along with its London-based community partners, the Department of Physics and Astronomy offers a series of public events from April 2 to 5 with the goal of having as many people as possible look through a telescope. London Reads Debate - Apr. 1

The all-star edition of London Reads comes to an end Wednesday, April 1 with a debate that looks closely at each title read throughout the year. The lineup of books includes Wonderfull, The Lost Highway, Gratitude, Exit Lines, and The Book of Negroes. The debate is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Stevenson & Hunt Meeting Room, London Public Library Central Branch, 251 Dundas. Women take back the budget! - March 30

Those are the questions that will be explored at a Gender Budget Analysis Symposium that has been organized by the Step It Up – Women Are Missing Coalition”, says Louise Pitre, Executive Director, Sexual Assault Centre London and conference organizer.
