Remembrance Day service - Nov. 11
The community is welcome to attend a Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11 at 10:40 a.m. in the University Community Centre atrium. Brief speeches will be delivered by University Students' Council President Emily Rowe, Western President Amit Chakma and University Chaplain Michael Wagenman.
London Reads Literary Lunch - Nov. 12
London Reads, in conjunction with Alumni Western, the Book Store at Western and the London Public Library invite you to attend the London Reads Literary Lunch to celebrate this year's winning book Wonderfull, written by William Neil Scott. The event takes place Thursday, November 12, 12 p.m. at Museum London.
Latin Americans in Canada - Public lecture Oct. 29
Professor Alan Simmons, Senior Scholar in the Department of Sociology at York University and Adjunct Research Professor at the Centre for Research on Migration and Ethnic Relations at Western, will present a public lecture called "Why Immigrant Origins Matter: Latin Americans in Canada" on Thursday, October 29, 4 to 5 p.m., Room 5220 Social Sciene Centre.
Going Back Home exhibition - Oct. 28-30
Hosted by Western's School of Occupational Therapy, the Going Back Home Exhibition explores the process of transformation within the Brazilian psychiatric context. Through black and white pictures, Brazilian photographer Radilson Carlos Gomes brings to light the experiences of psychiatric survivors who had been living in confined psychiatric wards for several decades and were finally released to their communities after the Mental Health Reform was signed in Brazil in 2001.
